A Mascot Born from Student Creativity

In 2016, The Hazeley Academy embarked on an exciting journey to find a school mascot that would embody our values and spirit. Through a student competition, Harvey the Husky was born – the creation of a talented Year 9 student who envisioned a character that would perfectly represent what makes our school special.

Meet Harvey: Our Siberian Friend

Harvey is a friendly, grey husky with striking blue eyes and a distinctive green collar adorned with the three Cs – Character, Confidence, and Creativity – crafted by our Design Technology department. He was originally from Siberia, where he lived with his parents, two brothers, and sister.

What makes Harvey such a perfect mascot for our Academy is how comprehensively he represents our core values:

• Character: Harvey is brave, determined, and never afraid to show his true self;

Harvey's mantra that "he will never let you give up" perfectly aligns with our commitment to supporting every student's journey.

Harvey came to The Hazeley Academy with a clear purpose: to help students develop and improve. He stands as a constant reminder that everyone has the potential to grow and succeed with the right support and mindset. As the student creator described, Harvey is "determined, brave, eager to learn, and hardworking whilst being friendly, cute and funny" – qualities we encourage in all our students.
